Toku CPaaS supports Singapore registered Sender ID for sending SMS.
With Toku as your communications partner, and a licenced operator within the Singapore SMS governed framework, our platform gives your brand the ability and protection to utilise your name within the SMS Sender ID as an alphanumeric identifier that appears on the recipient's device.
Protecting your brand has been a growing concern within the Singapore market and the local regulator Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and so businesses are required to register their Sender ID`s prior to sending any SMS. Sending an SMS that has not been registered will result in the Sender ID being converted to "Likely-SCAM" by all local operators.
The Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC) under authority of the IMDA manages the Singapore SMS Sender ID Registry (SSIR). The way to protect your Singapore SMS Sender ID is simply to register your Sender ID with SGNIC via their online portal https://smsregistry.sg/web/register-agreement
The registering of a Sender ID is nothing new in the global communications industry and Singapore is now amongst many countries performing this within their own environment including neighbouring Asian states Indonesia, Vietnam, Loas and Philippines.
SGNIC has its own requirements to be able to onboard you with your Sender ID registered with them and below Toku will help you understand and guide you through such so your well prepared and ready to go.

- Please go through the following links as SGNIC will expect you to have agreed with their terms stated within them as part of your registration:
-
- SSIR Portal Terms and Conditions: https://www.sgnic.sg/smsregistry/terms-and-conditions
- SSIR User Agreement: https://sgnic.sg/smsregistry/user-agreement
-
- Have your Unique Entity Number (UEN) details from the Singapore Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) to hand.
- We're not based within Singapore, what is UEN and where do I get one?
- You can still gain a UEN, contact ACRA and register as a local subsidiary or register as a foreign branch office: https://www.acra.gov.sg/how-to-guides/registering-a-foreign-company. Use this UEN to then register with SGNIC. Do note that companies registered with ACRA will have to comply with the statutory and disclosure requirements of the Singapore Companies Act.
- We're not based within Singapore, what is UEN and where do I get one?
- Have your Organisation’s Singapore Corppass ready for company verification purposes. This is the authorisation system for businesses to provide access for their employees to manage digital services to perform corporate transactions.
- We don’t have a Corppass, how do I get one?
- Any business that has a UEN can register to gain a Corppass although a Singpass will be required to do so. https://www.corppass.gov.sg/help/CP_User_Guide_01_RO_Corppass_Admin_Registration.pdf
- If you cannot get access to Corppass, SGNIC may require your organisation’s utility bills or telecom bills. Please contact them at smsregistry@sgnic.sg for clarification.
- We don’t have a Corppass, how do I get one?
- The SGNIC portal is designed to have a main admin user. The admin user can then create other user accounts for other colleagues within your organisation. The recommended admin user should be someone who can maintain and manage the Sender ID registration process within your organisation. Have their name and email address ready to hand.
- You will be asked to select a participating SMS Aggregator. Please select “Toku Pte Ltd” as your preferred partner for your CPaaS SMS solutions.
The SGNIC team will process your account and contact the admin user once complete.
Registering your Sender ID`s
By this stage you should have the list of Sender IDs you wish to register to hand and start adding them to the portal. Whilst you wait for the SGNIC email do check your Sender ID`s against the SGNIC requirements for Sender ID formats: https://www.sgnic.sg/smsregistry/rules-of-registration
SGNIC have applied fees for the registration of Sender IDs. Please use the following link to review these prior to registration (located within the fees and billing section): https://smsregistry.sg/web/create-account. Please note there are setup fees and per annum fees that will be required for payment directly to SGNIC and so if you have any procurement invoice payment processes within your organisation do engage with them to ensure timely payments are made for the registration of your Sender IDs. You will be requested to add a designated billing contact within the portal for such email invoices.
Your organisation may utilise a representative to send SMS with your registered Sender ID on your behalf. For example, a marketing firm to run a marketing campaign for you. To authorise the representative to send such SMS with the registered Sender ID on your organisation’s behalf, a Letter of Authorisation (LoA) is required from you to the representative. SGNIC have provided the following template that is to be used https://sgnic.sg/docs/default-source/sms-registry/loa.docx. Once you have this ready share it with your representative who should share this with Toku to avoid any disruption and safely protect your Sender IDs.
How to enable this with Toku?
Once you’ve registered your Sender IDs, please share the confirmations and any relevant LoA`s. with Toku to complete the onboarding onto the Toku CPaaS platform. Please provide these to your Toku team contact whom will manage your Sender ID onboarding.
The IMDA regularly sends Toku lists of new Sender ID registrations, and your confirmation will be verified against the list to ensure your SMS can complete through to the indented recipients without any disruption.
Toku cannot process any SMS sent through without it appearing on the registration list from the IMDA and we will work with you and the IMDA if there appear to be any discrepancies during this phase.
If you have any further queries, do contact your Toku team and they will gladly assist otherwise please contact the Singapore Network Information Centre ("SGNIC”) at smsregistry@sgnic.sg or visit the following summary of SGNIC Links:
